Fig. 3a As asteroids dance their core’s grind against themselves creating a deep space anomaly; friction. The small amount of heat radiates and creates a small but flamboyant light show .
Just a quick update to Fred Astaireoid. I reduced the vertices on the Collada object by seventy-five percent which greatly improved memory. The visual result is a few sharper points on the object but nothing too drastic (i.e. Virtua Fighter 1). Also added a color transform utility to play with. This will be it for the astaireoid project for a while. Tune is “Lent” composed by Eric Satie and not included in source. Just drop an mp3 titled “01.mp3″ in the “assets” folder.

Fig. 2a If a radioactive asteroid fragment becomes forlorn, or sick with lonely, at any point in its journey it will pause for a dance. Asteroids are generally too brittle and focused for such tom foolery, but they’ll get loose for the right tune.
This is a little eye candy drummed up for the christening of the new site. This was sculpted in Blender, imported to Papervision3D and made lively with AS3dMod and some simple, home baked computeSpectrum() methods. I’m still trying to find my rhythm in Blender, so as of now that little booger has >1k vertices, which really chews up the memory. Tune is “Snookered” by Dan Deacon and not included in source. Just drop an mp3 titled “01.mp3″ in the “assets” folder.

My last personal site was suffering from some IA issues and an overall lack of direction. It was aesthetically pleasing, to me, and it was fairly flexible, but it just wasn’t cutting it. How can I be sure? The ROI, or unit of measure for the success of said site was obtaining employment. No luck. So I’m trying to diversify my skillset, hence custom WordPress theme.
The migration to WordPress was short and sweet. This is my first WordPress theme and it was a very good experience. WordPress’ documentation is thorough and clear. During the migration I fell in love with validating. WAI, 508, XHTML, CSS; everything passed. The W3C has my back and if no one ever reads this blog, or looks in the portfolio, I will always feel validated on some level.
If you are curious the old site now lays in a coffin marked v1 in my webroot. You are welcome to visit: anytime (FP 10 required).
